Copyright © Bob Rosenbaum 1984 Collins Foods International was a Fortune 500 restaurant giant (KFC, Sizzler) in Southern California employing tens of thousands when the U.S. recession of the early 1980s hit. CEO Dick Birmingham was widely known for his wry sense of humor. As their corporate marketing communications guy at the time, Dick asked me to remind his troops that optimism was the only way forward. This $2 souvenir plaque – a fixture in his otherwise plush office – seemed to bring home his message very effectively. Bermingham loved the result and used it frequently in his corporate presentations. |
